Weather in Venice

Venice is an all-season destination as the weather in Italy’s favorite city is pleasant all year round.

First-time visitors can visit the destination any time to get a good glimpse of the city.

However, the best time to visit Venice is during April, May, September, and October, as the climate is not only bearable but also quite inviting.

During these months, there is cold weather in Venice which is glowing with a warm and shiny climate, making it favorable for visitors.

Summertime and August are not recommended for sightseeing due to heat waves, mosquitoes and bugs wandering.

Weather in Venice has two patterns, winds from the southeast bring in a cold temperature.

At the same time, the winds from the south bring in warm and wet weather, pushing more water into the lagoon and initiating floods.

Despite this, tourists remain unaffected as the flooded areas have elevated wooden walkways preventing the water from getting on top.

Here’s a table briefly describing travel months and minimum and maximum temperatures in Venice.

Winter marks the end of heavy crowds in Venice.

The best time to visit Venice is from December to February, with fewer tourists and cheaper accommodation rates.

One of the disadvantages is that most tourist attractions may close early.

The months experience a sudden drop in temperature, sometimes even below freezing point.

Winter also sees the famous Venetian fog, a plus point to the romantic nature of the Grand Canal.

February also sees a surge in the crowd due to the famous carnival, which can flare up the accommodation rates.

Overall, the time of your visit can solely depend on which weather in Venice you want to visit.
